The department of Pharmacology was established in the year of 2009-10 with well qualified faculty along with sophisticated instruments and infrastructure. Now, the intake of students has been increased from 10 to 18 from 2010-11 onwards. The motto of the department is to prepare the students to suit for the teaching as well as R & D sector and also to maintain the standard quality of the students & pharmacology field.

The Department of Pharmacology at Vaageswari College of Pharmacy offers Post graduate students the opportunity to pursue a program of study that is directed toward meeting the individual career objectives in the area of Pharmaceutical Expertise. We are encouraging & involving the students in various research & teaching activities.

This course allows you to:

  • Gain practical knowledge and skills to operate commonly used pharmacology & analytical laboratory instruments
  • Gain the knowledge about the phases of New Drug Discovery and Development and all other related procedures.
  • Ability to design a good experimental setup for the screening of number of biological and pharmacological activities
  • Able to conduct in vivo & in vitro model for screening of various test (synthetic/herbal) compounds for various biological activities.
  • Get the exposure to the clinical settings and pharmacy practice.
  • Understand the principles and practice of laboratory quality system
  • Get an experience in conducting/assisting various basic pharmacokinetic studies
  • Get an experience in using the recently developed new models for the screening of anti-diabetic agents using chicks and also in evaluating the alternative models to human and animals for the estimation of the pharmacokinetic parameters and drug metabolism
  • Able to apply Statistical packages like GraphPad Prism, WinNonlin, Ramkin and Ramlin etc. for ANOVA & Pharmacokinetic calculations, plotting the graphs and representations. All practical training takes place in our recently refurbished and highly-equipped laboratories

University Ranks:

  • Recently, Rahath Mahmood and Tahseen secured the Satavahana University 1st & 2nd rank in M. Pharmacy I Semester respectively.
  • The Last batch students (V. Lavanya & M. Harini) also got Kakatiya University ranks in their 2nd semester in 2012.
  • The first batch student, Miss. G. Kiranmai got Kakatiya University 1st rank in her 2nd, 3rd and 4th semesters and her overall academic rank is 2nd.

Conferences:

  • 65% students were participated & presented (poster presentations) in Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) conference-2013 at Banglore.
  • 70% students of pharmacology department were participated & presented (poster presentations) in Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) conference-2010 & 2011.

Placements:

  • 80% of students of first batch were joined and working in the sectors of teaching as well as industry.

Animal House:

  • The department having animal house as per CPCSEA norms.

  • The department of Pharmacology have well qualified and experienced faculty.

  • B.Pharmacy With 1st division 2004 from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, India.
